UCT OIL & GAS
UCT performance coatings tame hostile environments
UCT’s high boron content Ni3B coatings provide a compelling answer to the abrasion, corrosion, and heat challenges associated with oil, gas, and industrial pump operations. Thanks to their superior hardness, these surface finishes withstand dirt, sand, contaminated fluids, and temperatures up to 1800° F, increasing longevity and performance in coated parts.
UCT’s proprietary, non-line-of-sight, autocatalytic coating bath evenly plates all surfaces exposed to it, ensuring uniform properties while reducing secondary machining. Ni3B coated parts enjoy low surface friction and superior lubricity, which improve fluid flow and reduce cavitation erosion. Our shear-resistant, non-flaking, non-spalling coatings shrug off entrained gases, H2S contamination, and petroleum/distillate products, alike. But perhaps the most impressive characteristic of Ni3B coatings is that you can achieve this level of performance on cheaper alloy substrates than you currently employ.
Key Applications
1. Oil P&E (production and exploration)
- ALP (artificial lift pump) components-diffusers, impellers
- Mud pump components - washpipes
- Drill bit holders and heads
- Gate valve components
- Gas separator chambers/sleeves
- Pump shafts

 | 2. Gas service (very good in severe service apps)
- Ball valves, stems, bodies
- Choke valves
- Metering tubes

| Oil production and exploration
- Artificial lift pump components-diffusers, impellers and PCP rotors. In down-hole field beta tests, coated pumps lasted a minimum of three times longer than the standard pumps, increased oil production 200% and demonstrated no appreciable drop in volume. Review of coated diffusers and impellers revealed minimal wear on all key pump points.
